Rogue

This has got that industrial feel to it. Great song for a first one in FL Studio. Feels like I'm in a factory. I did want the kick to vary a tad (a couple different hits on fills or something) but no real complaints. EQing would be good and Might wanna try panning a tad to showcase that center instrument or set of instruments.

All in all this one's pretty sick. Loved it (sort of reminded me of donkey kong when you're in the mine carts haha). Nice job.

Thanks, it does sound kinda dark and dirty doesn't it?
Factory is a good description.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts!

Future

Sick song here man. Your friend on the guitar is amazing, as I'm sure you know. Drums are sick and everything fits very well together. I agree with the previous poster in that its very santana-esque. Gotta be a sweet complement.

Do you have an electric drum set? or is this played with a keyboard? or (holy crap this would cost a lot) is it a mic-ed acoustic drumset?

Either way it's phenomenal, nice job.

Musical-Pants responds:

Thanks, I've never heard Santana, (I'm sure Frank has) but but if you say It's a compliment, that's ok with me.
And did the drums using logic at Mike's house.
Thanks for the review!

One Last Dance

Nice beat here and great melody. I liked this one but I wish it was longer and had a bit more instrments like a pad or something. *shrug* Let me know if you update this one.

Lockdown

Wow, sick sound you have going here pants, I'm really loving your new stuff. This would fit perfect in a videogame and it also loops really well (nudge nudge flash artists). But....

I got a fever....

And the only prescription...

- Haha, it surprised me when the cowbell came in, but it fit really well.

Nice work pants,

~SinJim

Musical-Pants responds:

Yeah, so far I've only had two songs used in flash games, but I'm hoping that will increase soon.
As for the type of game, I was thinking like madness or something like that.
Maybe a chase scene.
Anyway, thanks for the review!

Someday

I love this one Pants, this is definitely my favorite from you and I also think it's your best. As someone before said, it has spirit and even without lyrics you can tell. Now if someone was singing over this - man would it be ridiculous. I loved the progression and I chorus fit really well into the song. While the quality might not be the best throughout, I have really no complaints - it's going on my favs.

Musical-Pants responds:

Wow, thanks. Too bad it wasn't the one that got best of the week.
Btw what program do you use? I just downloaded a demo for fl studio 8, so I'm in the market for software if you have any suggestions.
Thanks for the ten!

Gentle Evening Waves

Kind of eerie, I like the subtle laughing in there (makes me feel like I'm in a room full of mirrors with someone watching me from an unknown place laughing at me). Very relaxing though. I think you should slap some reverb on the drums to give it some more ambient feel. I really liked this one and maybe pants is right bongos might fit it well or the reverb might tie in the drums more. 10/10, 5/5 Excellent work.

PS - I loved the piano.

nightsurfermusic responds:

Glad you liked the piano. I'm really good at piano, I've been taking lessons for 5 years. All i did was really listen through the part where i wanted the piano, and then added the notes in while playing the song in my head :)

Gentle Waves

Wow, I really enjoyed this song. I do agree with the previous poster that the first line is almost identicle to the x-files theme, the echo and everything. Was that on purpose? or just a coincidence? It definitely doesn't bother me at all, just what I thought of at first.

Anyways, the pads and piano fit very nicely together and the addition of the drums help the song move a long nicely. If you wanted, you could add some reverb on the drums to make those feel even more ambient and "gentle." Anyhow, it's just a suggestions, nice job, 5/5, 9/10.

~SinJim

nightsurfermusic responds:

i oughta do that! Good idea!

NO, i had no idea those notes were from X-files. Dunno what X files is O_o

Rising

This reminds me of an opening to a fantasy movie or final fantasy game. Like where the screen starts panning over the land or city (your rise) and then it gets into the daily life kind of stuff (your happy part). In specifically it reminds me of the music from FFXII.

Anyways that's sort of just what I thought.

About the song in particular, great work with the software strings, it's pretty hard to get them to sound real and I think you did an excellent job. I also really liked when the flute came in and how the strings went to pizzicato (I think that's the right word there). Really got a happy feeling across. All in all, nice job (although I wanted it a little longer). 5/5 10/10, fav'd.

Wow... probably the best critic ever! Thanks, it's these kinds of comments that keeps me going!

Helix

Sweet song. I loved the beats and the melody. Piano fits right in with the pads. I really liked the chord progression too. 5/5, 10/10.

~SinJim

PS - I think this might fit better into ambient tho.

flashmac responds:

yeah it does sound kinda ambient, lol. Glad you liked it man.

I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
