Daydreamin' along.

Me wants some effects on the drums, and I agree with whoever said more strings. Love how you keep it simple. You could keep going with simple or just add a whole lot more in there if you want. Anyhow sweet song.

PS - Stupid bombers...at least leave a review that would help if you're gonna vote it down...boohiss.

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Lol.

Unfortunately, I won't be doing anymore with this.

It was just something I made to pass the time.

It's nice to know that people are diggin' it though!

Thanks for leaving a review!

Goodbye

This is amazing - I'd love to have a cousin who sings so my songs didn't always sound like they're missing something haha... Anyways. Great job, the piano is wonderful and her voice fits right over all the parts of this. I felt like this was a little short though. Wanted more. Loved it though 5/5, 10/10.

Equation responds:

Thanks, yeah she is a great singer aint she :)

It is a short song this one, I'm currently putting an album together and this will be the final song on it...

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the review

I listened to the other one and this is definitely a huge improvement over it. I like the idea behind everything and the song overall I just think you might want to put a bit of variation on the drums. Or (hear me out) you could add some heavy reverb on the drums to make them sound "far away." then somewhere in the middle fade the reverb out while you bring the beat to center stage. Just an idea. If you don't like that that's fine, I am craving a bit of reverb on the clap, however.

I would say to definitely vary the beat, maybe add a sample drum beat behind yours to give it some more flavor but take the volume down to like half of the drums you already have. It will just spice it up a bit. Anyhow, if when you choose to upload you're looking for a genre I'd place it in ambient.

Just a couple examples here - fool around with effects on various instruments to see if you can get some different sounds. You just need a bit more variation to keep the listener interested. I can't wait to hear the final.

~SinJim

PS - Sounds like you're in a desert (duh - the title) but maybe a humongous cave - meh *shrug*

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Ok ok...

I understand you dealing with the effects with instruments,

Just have to figure out where and what...

Hm...

This should be interesting.

It will probably take me a bit longer to put out the final, but it should be worth it.

And it's funny, I have two different claps going on in this song.

With the double claps, the first clap in the double clap has reverb...lol.

Yes weird, I know, but I'm going to check out how it sounds with reverb on both XD.

But yes, I'm going to work a deal more with this.

Thanks so much for the reivew!

P.S.- If to you it sounds like a humongous cave, then so be it!

Stuck on this.

I love this piece. It's very heartfelt and the piano is just, what is the word, delicious. Odd? Yes, I know. Anyhow, I loved when the bass came in cuz I was thinking "Wow this song is awesome...could really use some bas--- oh wait there it is." Great work with the beat and everything overall. Did you play the piano? It's beautiful. Oh yea...you gotta love those people that just vote zero on you with no explanation - Huzzah! Great job! I'm favoriting you, I'll check the rest of your songs when I have time later.

~SinJim

PS - Can't wait to hear the next version.

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

No, I didn't, and don't play piano *sobs*

I'm getting a job this summer though so I can save up for a really nice keyboard.

Just like guitar, I'll learn how to play piano all late..

I'm amazed you liked the beat, because it's driving me insane.

I'm going to try to put some marching drums in the beginning or something.

Or I might become overpowered by laziness and never fix it, but with this song it's unlikely.

I'm glad you liked it man! I'll be sure to PM you with the finish!

Funk it.

Wow, are all these software instruments? If so, you did a damn good job. Your style is very unique and you always add in some different sounds I never expect. The melodies are nice in this song and I love the funky feel you have. I'm starting to wonder what program you use (you're phenomenal at it)... Anyways nice job here, gonna favorite you.

~SinJim

PS - I'd love to collaborate sometime.

Musical-Pants responds:

Thank you for the kind words! Yes, these are all software instruments I used, but I used my own effects for the distortion and stuff.
The program I'm currently using is Music Maker basic edition by Majix. I was using Audacity before, but found it kinda hard to synch everything up.
And yes, I really would love to do a collab, so PM me any time!

Chill...

Sounds like lounge music, or maybe upbeat elevator music. The guitar is pretty sweet (Did you play it? is it a sample? or did you program it?). The variation on the drums is pretty sweet also and the sax is a nice addition there. The guitar almost sounds mexican but I love how you fit everything in together. I enjoyed this one a lot.

~SinJim

Musical-Pants responds:

Thanks. For this one everything is a sample, so I had to work harder to make it sound authentic; jazz not being a great genre to use a lot of synth in.
The guitar my friend was going to play, but due to time conflicts (school exams) I had to use a sample for that as well.
And thanks for noticing the drums, they're about the only instrument I can play well in real life, so I usually give them a little bit more attention.

Rumble

This one definitely sounds like it could fit perfectly into a video game. It's a perfect combination of all the instruments and it's done well so that it's not overpowering but it still provides a lot of variation. If it's meant to be a loop, it does loop well but I think you could expand this one if you wanted. If not that's cool too. Sweet work with the synths and I like the wah synth that's at like 40 seconds (I think). Anyways sweet song!

~SinJim

Musical-Pants responds:

Thank you.
My strength doesn't really seem to be creating sounds, but using other peoples sounds to the best effect. Anyway, I kinda feel like I cheated using the wawah twice in my songs, (at the end of funked up) but I guess it's not that noticeable in either song so I'll be ok.

Thanks again

-Pants

Nice

Haha, the ending doesn't really fit, it's definitely interesting tho. This sounds like it could be a sick intro to a song and I think you should try and expand it in that sense. When it built up I was expecting some ridiculous drums and a sweet theme and I think you could go for that. Nice work with the ambient sounds there. All in all, it's short and sweet, but I think expanding would do it justice.

~SinJim

Musical-Pants responds:

You know, I never really thought about expanding this particular piece as I only gave it about ten minutes in the first place, but I can really see what you mean. In fact, I already have an idea!
Funny how that works, could be because I just watched The Fugitive.

Thanks SinJim

Falling

Great theme here, awesome work with the strings. You captured the ambient feel very well. Loved it, nice work! 5/5, 10/10.

popraz responds:

Thank you !

Morrowind

Great arrangement here. Piano is excellent and flute fits right in there. Definitely brings back the memories. Great job. If you wanted to make it epic it would be sweet to have a buildup with huge drums and an orchestra swell. Just my take, 5/5, 10/10.

PS - If you play Oblivion it will eat your life...Great game, great music, aka do the theme when you get time haha.

~SinJim

ErikMcClure responds:

I did get oblivion, but it isn't eating my life yet :P Will have to try doing the theme sometime... Thanks!

I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
